 Very Rev. P.C. Yohannan Ramban

The demise of P.C. Yohannan Ramban, a senior Ramban and Manager of Mar Kuriakose Dayara, Pampady, is a heavy loss not only to the Malankara Orthodox Church but for the entire society. He reached Bishop's Aramana in Pampady Dayara, and accepted the discipleship of St. Pampady Thirumeni, when he was a School boy and upon finishing his school education while staying there, he was ordained Deacon in 1954.He was ordained priest in 1957. He could easily familiarize with the essence of the Church philosophy and theology and to implement them in his practical life. When the Church leadership used to suggest several times to elevate him as a Metropolitan, he always withdrew voluntarily from such suggestions.

Yohannan Ramban's life was totally dedicated for the orphans, destitute and the socially ignored. He could organize a State level association of the orphanages and old age homes, after a Herculean task of contacting the people behind such institutions run across the state, under the auspices of different organizations and individuals. His only intention for doing so was to enable each institution to gain more energy to function more effectively and in an organized way. Asha Kiran, the institution organized by him for the rehabilitation of the Aids patients is the witness of his great service mind and vast organizing capacity. Only because of his hard work, the institution has grown to hold the assets worth one Crore Rupees. Yohannan Ramban, a state level leader and organizer of the Anti Liquor Movement, was in the forefront of many 'fasting agitations'. He has showed us a way of life through which we could build up a society aiming goodness. In all respects his life is great and precious.
