The late deceased Mar Gregorius Thirumeni of Pampady was
not far behind the saintly Gregorios Thirumeni who takes
his final rest in Parumala, in prayer life and strict
observance of spiritual obligations. Thirumeni's
administrative influenced were ennobled simply because
he never wanted to be an administrator but a sage given
to hermit- like life. He was a Metropolitan who won the
love and respect of many beyond the Christian church
fold. For instance it was a Nair chieftain who first
donated a substantial area of land on the beautiful hill
where his 'aramana' and dayara stand. Love and respect
towards Thirumeni have been shown by other communities
on many occasions. His simple hermit life and strict
observance of a regimen fit for a 'yogi' have won the
respect of people without distinction of caste or creed.
Truly speaking, his spiritual insights point to an era
fast fading with religiosity superseding spirituality.
The adherence to observances and prayer life which
characterised the past generations, is fast receding
with the disappearance of spiritual stalwarts like
Pampady Thirumeni. The noble, unselfish service-oriented
life of saints like Thirumeni will ever remain inspiring
examples to future generations. Instances of individual
lives being saved under his influence are a legion.

Mr.K.M.Mathew, Chief Editor, Malayala Manorama
We remember with respect the great love that Thirumeni
had for Manorama and its editor the late K. C. Mammen
Mapillai. It is a void, unbridgeable almost, that
Thirumeni's demise has left with the church. Our deep
and sincere homage to the sacred memory of Thirumeni.
